L4 Institute for Digital Communication
L4 is based in Berlin, Germany, the creative hub of Europe. It is a private media school focusing on film/video/design, accommodating approximately 300 students who are either working towards a Diploma or a Bachelor of Arts degree or are concluding with a degree from the Berlin Chamber of Commerce. The two-year-programs include Visual/Media Design, Sound Design, Film and TV Design, 3D/Game Design as well as Music Management and Video Journalism.
L4 also operates a production unit "L4-Kreation" that specialises in film/video/3D animation with state-of-the art-technology.
For adult professionals, L4 is running a programme of training courses and workshops, offering vocational and company skills development for those who are actively engaged within the media industry. Be it a customised course or an open class for specific topics like post-production or web design, all courses are delivered by media industry professionals using industry standard production equipment.
It is L4's philosophy to combine theoretical training with practical experience through working on proper industry projects. Via innovative pedagogical and technical approaches the students will acquire the theoretical knowledge and the hands-on experience they need in an ever-competing market.
Although L4 is a private school, it is fully accredited by the Berlin Senate of Education and has been successfully operating as such since 1996. In an international context, there are long established partnerships with Griffith College in Dublin, Ireland and with 'The Art Institutes', an American Art School Association who regularly send their students to the L4 Berlin campus for one of their semesters.
